Logistics Case Study: Cutting Transport Costs with Buyer's Consolidation|Logistics Case Studies
Consolidating shipments from multiple suppliers with Buyer's Consolidation to achieve cost savings
Trade Flow — Hong Kong Buyer's Consolidation Hub
4 countries, 5 suppliers → Meito Hong Kong 1 hub → Japan
Project Overview
This trading company client imports components into Japan from multiple suppliers (China, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia). Because they arranged carriers separately for each supplier, they were incurring the inefficiency of paying freight even for the empty space in their containers.
The Client's Challenges
- Each of the 5 suppliers arranged carriers individually
- Freight was paid even for the empty space in containers
- Customs documents varied from supplier to supplier
- Arrival schedules were inconsistent, making inventory management difficult
Our Proposal & Solution
Meito Buyer's Consolidation × Hong Kong Hub Integration
We built a "Buyer's Consolidation" framework in which cargo from each supplier is consolidated at Meito's Hong Kong consolidation hub and shipped to Japan as a single container. By centralizing document processing, schedule management, and customs clearance, we simplified the logistics operations spanning multiple suppliers.
- Consolidate multiple suppliers at the Hong Kong consolidation hub
- Process customs documents in a single batch
- Plan arrival schedules on a monthly basis
- Link with the inventory management system
Results
| Item | Before | After | |

| Consolidation unit | 5 lots (by supplier) | → | Consolidated into 1 lot |
| Customs processing workload | 5 filings | → | 1 filing |
| Inbound schedule accuracy | ±3 days | → | ±0.5 days |
Client Testimonial
The more suppliers we added, the more complicated our logistics became—but Meito's Hong Kong hub brought it all into order at once. The biggest change is that it is now much easier to plan our inventory.
