Specialist Staff Support Material-Handling Deployment
We Also Handle Verification and Evaluation of the Latest Technologies
In recent years, the logistics industry has seen the ongoing development and implementation of various technologies that improve operational efficiency and reduce labor. In response to this trend, Meito has organized a dedicated team (the Logistics Technology, or LT, team) that conducts research and verification of the latest technologies in the logistics field and supports our customers in adopting them. To date, the team has carried out numerous projects both within and outside the company.

One of the projects at which the LT team excels—made up of experts in information systems, production systems, and operational improvement—is "material-handling design and deployment." When introducing material-handling equipment such as automated warehouses, sorters, and digital picking systems (DPS) at a logistics site, Meito handles operational design, space planning, the preparation of RFPs (requests for proposal) for each equipment manufacturer, and equipment capability evaluation on the customer's behalf. By outsourcing to Meito, customers can deploy material-handling equipment that is optimal in terms of processing capacity and cost—even for a first-time project or when they lack in-house expertise.

For the latest technologies still rarely deployed in Japan—such as automated-warehouse picking systems, picking robots, and AI—we are sometimes entrusted with the decision of whether to adopt them. Meito provides customers with the information they need to make that decision through research into technology trends and leading case studies.

We also have an extensive track record of on-site improvements based on specialized expertise. By working on location improvements—such as reviewing the layout of storage racks—and flow-line improvements that eliminate wasteful movement of picking staff and forklifts, we deliver efficient distribution-center operations.
